CHANDIGARH: After the Model Code of Conduct came into force in the state for Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections, various enforcement teams have seized valuables worth Rs 414.35 crores since the implementation of Election model code of conduct till February 11, 2022.

CHANDIGARH: To ensure Drug-free and other inducement-free Assembly Elections in the state, various enforcement teams have seized valuables worth Rs 407.15 crores in violation of code since Model Code of Conduct has come into force.

CHANDIGARH:With 1304 candidates are in a fray for the Punjab Assembly Elections for 117 assembly constituencies scheduled to be held on February 20, 2022, there are two transgenders and 93 are women, while, 1209 candidates are men, informed Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr S Karuna Raju here on Thursday.

CHANDIGARH:To ensure Drug-free and other inducement-free Assembly Elections in the state, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr S Karuna Raju said that various Enforcement Agencies have recovered Rs 1.74 crores cash, 27960.292 litre of licit liquor, 6476.61 litre of illicit liquor, 235069 litre of Lahan (raw material used to make liquor), 1088.01 Kg of Poppy Husk, 11.03 Kg of Opium, 3370.82 grams of Heroin, 123.507 grams of Smack, 2940 capsules, 90 vials of syrup and 92079 numbers of tablets since Model Code of Conduct has come into force.

CHANDIGARH: To ensure fair, transparent and inducement-free Assembly Elections in the state, Punjab Police have further intensified search operations especially in Border districts and along the International Border to keep vigil on illegal activities in doubtful/vulnerable areas. CHANDIGARH:To prevent any kind of alleged poll-related model code of conduct violations during the upcoming Punjab Assembly Elections 2022, the Punjab Chief Electoral Officer, on the directions of Election Commission of India, will arrange webcasting in all the 24689 polling stations in the state. "This is for the first time that 100% webcasting will be done at all the polling stations in Punjab," said Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Punjab Dr S Karuna Raju on Tuesday.

Post-Anna movement, the emergence of Aam Admi Party (AAP), claiming the inheritance of anti-corruption discourse, though scored unexpected electoral success in its debutante 2013 Delhi Assembly election, proved to be a grand electoral failure in 2014 Lok Sabha election wherein it lost deposits at 413 seats out of 432 it contested. The only exception to the trend, surprisingly was Punjab where it won four seats out of 13 parliamentary constituencies.
